Two policemen suspended for beating up villagers

Davangere, Jan 25 (UNI) Two police constables were today placed under suspension on the charges beating up villagers belonging to Sriramagondanalli near here.

Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang said the constables -- Ravi and Prabhudev, attached to Davangere rural police station, allegedly assualted some villagers who were returning to their village after attending a marriage in a nearby by village late on Monday night.

A departmental inquiry had been ordered, the SP added.
