Six top ATTF rebels surrenders

Agartala, Jan 25 (UNI) The All Tripura Tiger Force (ATFF) today received a major jolt when six of their top leaders surrendered before the 15 Assam Rifles at Teliamura in Tripura's western district.

The surrendered militants include 'Self-Styled Warrant officer' Satya Ranjan Debbarma alias honesh, self-styled Surgeant jugal Debbarma, Self styled Lance Corporal Ashi Kumar Debbarma , self styled Pvt (sepoy) Tapan Debbarma, self-styled Pvt (sepoy) Olesh Debbarma , and self-styled Pvt (sepoy) Satya Ranjan Debbarma, alias Bathai.

The militants also desposited a cache of arms and ammunition before Assam Rifles Col A K Chatterjee. Officials of the 135 Battalion of the BSF were also present on the occasion.

The insurgents deposited two 9mm carbine service pattern, one Chinese 9 mm automatic pistol, one Browning 9 mm automatic Pistol and two other 9mm pistols along with 30 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and 50 live rounds of .303 caliber ammunition.

The surrendered militants are considered very close to the banned outfit president Ranjit Debbarma and two of them were personal body guard to him.

The ATTF has been working hand in glove with similar outfits like ULFA and the UNLF active in the Northeastern region.
