Shekhawat greets people on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has greeted the people of the country and the Indian diaspora on the occasion of the 58th Republic Day.

In a message here, the Vice-President said, ''Republic Day inspires us all to work with dedication in realising the vision of making India a developed country. We are proud of our achievements in industry, defence, space and atomic energy.'' Referring to the challenges like poverty, Mr Shekhawat urged the people to work unitedly for the welfare and development of the country.

''We are a global player in IT. But we are still faced with many challenges, especially poverty, which deny the right to live with dignity to a large number of people,'' he said.
