Officials directed to supervise SSA works: Reddy

Vijayawada, Jan 25 (UNI) The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Andhra Pradesh Legislative Committee Chairman R Changa Reddy today said the officials were directed to supervise the construction works taken up under the SSA funds and complete them by March end.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy said the Committee was touring the state to review the works and had already visited ten districts.

In 2001, Rs 1200 crore was allotted to the SSA with the Centre and state government sharing Rs 800 crore and Rs 400 crore respectively to construct additional class rooms, toilets, compound walls and providing drinking water facility in schools.

He said the Committee had alerted the officials to speed up the works and complete them within the prescribed time frame, as otherwise, the Centre may slash the size of the fund.
