Music is like prayer: Chaurasia

Surat, Jan 25 (UNI) Legendary flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia today said music was like prayer and for him it was a means to worship god.

Mr Chaurasia, who was here to attend a musical programme, told reporters here that devotional approach to music was fast disappearing and ''it is being corporatised nowadays''.

''We must understand that it is very important to teach our traditions to our children'', Mr Chaurasia said.

He, however, did not find anything wrong with concepts like ''fusion music'' as they are very much part of the individuals creativity.

The musician recollected his combined performance with George Harrison and described it a ''musical chat'' with him.

Later, Mr Chaurasia performed at a Public School this evening and also interacted with students.
