Moscow snow shuts two airports to incoming flights
MOSCOW, Jan 25 (Reuters) Moscow's Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports were closed to incoming flights today because of a blizzard across the city, the Russian Transport Ministry said.
Flights continued to leave the two airports and the capital's main hub, Sheremetyevo airport, where national flag carrier Aeroflot is based, remained open.
The ministry said in a statement that visibility was 700 metres at Domodedovo and 600 metres at the smaller Vnukovo airport.
Moscow has been virtually snowless so far this winter -- cheering, worrying or bemusing residents -- but a blizzard cloaked the city today and weather forecasters said they expected 10 cm (4 inches) of snow by the end of the day and the blizzards to continue into tomorrow.
