Mizoram oppn criticised govt for laking policy
Aizawl, Jan 25: Mizoram's Opposition Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) has criticised the Mizo National Front (MNF) government for allegedly not having a transparent policy.
ZNP leaders told mediapersons here today that the fund earmarked under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission could not be used due to absence of a municipality here.
''An amount of Rs 2,011 crore had been earmarked to upgrade Aizawl, which is in C category under the urban mission but the state government has yet to receive the money because it has no urban local body'', ZNP leaders alleged.
The ZNP MLAs had moved a private member resolution for a municipality bill in the budget session of Assembly last year but the ruling party rejected it, they said adding if the resolution had been accepted, Mizoram would have had no trouble in getting the money allotted under the mission.
