Misra takes over as BBMB Chairman

Chandigarh, Jan 25 (UNI) Mr U C Misra, Director (HR), Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI), today assumed charge as the Chairman of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) following his appointment.

Mr Misra succeeds Mr Rakesh Nath.

Mr Misra is an electrical engineering graduate and has 35 years of experience in the power sector. He had been associated with various power projects and was responsible for timely completion of some of the projects located in the most difficult terrain and insurgency prone areas.

In the past, he also worked in the NHPC for 15 years and was connected with the Chamera Hydro Electric project and its transmission system. For the last seven years he had been looking after human resources department in PGCI in addition to works related to the telecom department.

As an incharge of the telecom department, he was instrumental in maximising the transmission service revenue and achieved the target for telecom revenue inspite of stiff competition from other telecom service providers.

As head of HR in PGCI, he was able to maintain best cordial relations with workers' unions and took various innovative measures in addressing the training calendar, giving highest thrust on multi-skilling and redeployment in order to optimise the manpower reqirement.

Due to his matured handling of industrial relations in the organisation, he was able to negotiate and finalise successfully the wage agreement with workers' unions, making PGCI the first undertaking in the power sector to finalise such an agreement.
