Michael Madhusudan Dutta's birth anniversary celebrated in Bengal

Kolkata, Jan 25 (UNI) The 184th birth anniversary Of Michael Madhusudan Dutta, the father of bengali sonnet, was celebrated today throughout West Bengal with due respect.

Several functions were organised in various parts of the state to pay homage to this great poet.

The state government organised a programme at Madhusudan Mancha.They also garlanded the statue of the poet at Maidan.

The All India Minority Forum had also organised a programme at Mullick Bazaar near the poet's tomb to celebrate the day.

Madhusudan Dutt, the famous 19th century Bengali poet and dramatist had composed several dramas, epics and sonnets.He was the first to intoduce 'amritakshar chonndo' in Bengali literature. Some of his great works included Meghnadh Bodh Kabya and Sharmistha.
