Metal prices up due to increase in fresh demand

Mumbai, Jan 25 (UNI) Metal prices went up due to increase in fresh demand today, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange informed.

In the ferrous section, Copper heavy and Copper utensils shot up by Rs 300 each per quintal. Brass utencil, Brass cuttings and Aluminium utencil also hiked by Rs 200, Rs 400 and Rs 100 per quintal, respectively, on higher advices.

In the non-ferrous section, Copper wire bar and Zinc slab shot up by Rs 100 per quintal on lesser stock supply while Aluminium ingot and Lead ingot slashed by Rs 100 each because of lack of fresh demand.

Nickel cathode declined by Rs five per kg on absence of fresh demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 31,000, Copper utensils - Rs 29,500, Brass utensils - Rs 23,100, Brass cuttings - Rs 25,500 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,400.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 34,300, Aluminium ingots -Rs 14,200, Zinc slab - Rs 20,300, Lead ingots - Rs 7,400, Tin slab - Rs 615 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,925 (per kg).
