Med staffs boycott work, govt hospitals affected

Puducherry, Jan 25: Functioning of the government hospitals was affected today as staff of the health department, T B hospital and T B centres boycott work and staged demonstrations in front of their respective offices.

The agitation was carried out to condemn the publisihing of posters by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), demanding the arrest of the Medical Superintendent (MS) and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the T B hospital and also a doctor, who allegedly lodged a false complaint against them.

The striking employees told newspersons that Ravichandran, a contract doctor at the T B hospital, was transferred to some other place on renewal of his contract. However, he insisted that he be posted at the T B hospital itself and filed a comlaint with the PCR cell that MS and the OSD had abused him, following which, the BSP intervened.

They also said Ravichandran, who had lodged a complaint against another doctor Raman, was transferred to Mahe region.
