Lady SI sentenced

Sagar, MP, Jan 25 (UNI) A special court in this divisional headquarters has sentenced a lady sub-inspector to three years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000 for accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 on November 2, 2003 at the Gopalgunj Police Station.

Judge Deepak Agrawal handed down the punishment to SI Malini Singh yesterday.

According to the prosecution, the Lokayukta Police apprehended her redhanded. Ms Singh demanded the bribe for handing back a car that had been impounded following a mishap.
