Govt cheating poor on SEZs: Naidu

Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 25 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged the Andhra Pradesh Government was cheating the poor in the guise of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Addressing a meeting at Velaballi of the district, Mr Naidu said the Congress Government was procuring agricultural lands from the poor and handing them over to the rich for setting up SEZs.

The compensation process for the acqired lands was not transparent, he claimed.

Charging Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with politicising the entire irrigation sector, he said the state had contradicting views and disputes on irrigation as the government lacked a comprehensive irrigation policy.

Diverting water from the Galerlu-Nagari project would amount to depriving Chittoor District of its due share of water, he warned.
