From Russia to Taiwan on a catamaran!

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 25 (UNI) Cutting through the waters to cover a formidable 7000 km -- from Russia to Taiwan -- on a catamaran was ''just adventurous'' to five Russian sailors who docked at the Rameswaram Coast on Tuesday.

The team set sail from Russia on December 12 last and is hopeful of reaching the Taiwan coast by February.

K A Pavlovich, K Eugene, M Y Nikolayevich, P G Petrovich and G P Alexandrovich had a brief respite at Manakyapattinam Coast and set sail for Taiwan yesterday.

With Pamban Bridge closed for broad gauge rail conversion, the catamaran would sail through Dhanushkodi to reach the destination.

It is fitted with a global positioning system and communication facilities to make it a bit 'varied' from regular catamarans.

The team would be sailing at day and docking at nights to resume sail next day after a brief shopping for grocery for the on-board kitchen.
