Dredging works to resume in 6 days: Baalu
Coimbatore, Jan 25 (UNI) Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Baalu said the dredging work at Sethu Samudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP) would resume within six days.
Talking to newspersons here today, Mr Baalu said works had been halted after a dredging vessel developed a snag due to a gap in its frame.
''It has been taken to Kochin Shipyard for repair works. The dredging works will resume as the vessel returns fit,'' he added.
About the unexpected monetaty loss incurred by this, he said the budget had provided for such expenses.
To a query about the NH 47 widening works, he said the stretch between Chengapally and Valayar in Kerala was pending due to litigation. ''It will be resolved and works will start soon'', he added.
The Nagapattinam-Gudalur stretch of the NH 67 would be over in the next fiscal.
