CPI(ML) rides 'humble' cycle to file nominations

Phagwara, Jan 25 (UNI) The CPI(ML) candidate from Noormahal assembly Constituency in this district today chose to show his ''solidarity with the common man'' by riding a 'humble' bicycle instead of leading a cavalcade of luxury vehicles to reach the election office to file his nomination papers.

Mr Peter, state President of Pendu Mazdoor Union Punjab and his supporters, travelled on cycles from Mehatpur to Phillaur to file his nomination papers for the seat.

His declared assets comprise Rs 5,000 in cash and a house in the village.

Addressing his supporters before filing his nomination papers, Mr Peter strongly crticised the leaders of the ruling Congress and Akalis for ammasing wealth while ignoring the issues related to common people of Punjab.

UNI
