Congress promises all-round development in Nagpur
Nagpur, Jan 25 (UNI) The Congress has promised all-round development, efficient administration, and a clean and green Nagpur in its manifesto for the February 1 civic elections here.
The manifesto was released by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee(MPCC) President Prabha Rau at a campaign meeting here late last night.
The promises included review of the taxes recovered by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), efforts to scrap non-agricultural (NA) tax on properties, creation of hawkers zones in busy markets, provision of all civic amenities to property tax payers and loan at low interest rates to owners of old and dilapidated houses in the city for reconstruction of the properties.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Ms Rau said the atmosphere in Maharashtra was in favour of her party and that the Congress would emerge stronger after the forthcoming polls. ''I hope the results will be good for the Congress,'' she said.
Ms Rau brushed aside apprehension that infighting would harm the party's prospects. All the leaders of the Congress, including the Members of Parliament and legislators, would work for the party nominees, she said and quipped,''After all, they also want to get elected in future.
