Congress charged for alleged electoral rolls manipulation

Panaji, Jan 25 (UNI) The Goa BJP today complained to the special election observer Nalini Netto against the alleged Congress manipulation of electoral rolls and voter photo identity cards to gain advantage in the coming elections to the state Legislative Assembly.

The opposition leader and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who called on the observer, recently appointed by the Election Commission of India for Goa, submitted several documents to substantiate his claim.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Parrikar said he brought to her notice about 2400 instances of manipulation of electoral rolls and bogus ID cards. More documents would be submitted to her in due course.

Mr Parrikar had lodged complaints with the Chief Election Commission recently during his visit to New Delhi on the same issue.

But the Congress rubbished it saying it a pot calling the kettle black.

Ms Nalini, who is also the Chief Election Officer of Kerala, gave him a patient hearing, Mr Parrikar said.

She later received complaints from the general public from North and South Goa besides hearing various political leaders on the election related issues.
