CM charged with violating election code of conduct

Imphal, Jan 25 (UNI) The BJP has charged Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh with violating the election code of conduct.

BJP leader and in-charge-of Northeast V Satish said the party has filed a formal complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, RR Rashmi, regarding violation of the election code of conduct citing a photograph published in a local English daily yesterday in which Mr Singh was shown as giving money to a senior citizen.

The Thoubal district electoral office has also served a notice to Mr Singh to seek information on the matter.

The Chief Minister, during a campaign had given, some money to a senior citizen in Thoubal district and the photograph had appeared in a local daily.
