Blast in Asom, IED recovered
Guwahati, Jan 25 (UNI) A suspected ULFA militant was killed today when the bomb he was carrying accidentally went off near Barhapjan in Tinsukia.
Official sources said another powerful bomb was recovered from the busy Lakhimpur market area this afternoon.
It was later defused.
In the Barhapjan incident, the bomb was being transported in a bicycle and the deceased was carrying it through the National Highway.
The explosion took place in an open place and none apart from the deceased was injured.
Police informed that Lakhimpur bomb was planted for marring the Republic Day celebration when an alert civilian informed police, who later defused it.
