New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) The BJP today took strong exception to the way Uttar Pradesh government had handled the attack on the Nithari accused by a mob at a trial court in Ghaziabad and said there had been no law and order in the state for many years.

BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said the crime committed by Moninder Singh Pandher and his servant Surinder Kohli was heinous and nobody was there to defend them. At the same time this is not the way a civil society should treat an accused and administer justice, he added.

When his attention was drawn towards the advertisements that political parties were politicising the Nithari killings, Mr Prasad said the government had suspended two Superintendents of Police and a third was being interrogated for criminal negligence and indifference and shooing away the parents of the missing children without registering their complaints. He added that these actions of the government make it the responsibility of the political parties to highlight the indifference of the police and the administration.

He said when the government and the system refuses to work and wishes to treat even heinous crimes as normal event, political parties will highlight such aspects. The question is what is the police administration doing at the levels of Inspectors General of Police and the Director General of Police, Mr Prasad added.
