Accident victim's kin await compensation even after 15 yrs
Dubai, Jan 25 (UNI) Indians in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh have urged the Manmohan Singh government to intervene in a case relating to the delay in compensation delivery to the family of an Indian who died 15 years ago in an accident.
The Riyadh Indian Friendship Association (RIFA) has urged Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed to help get ''blood money'' to the next of kin of the deceased.
Cleetus Augustin was killed on September 8, 1991, but his elderly parents and wife living in Thiruvananthapuram are yet to get the compensation due to them under the Saudi law.
The case was dragging on for years until it was taken up by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh in 2003, press reports said.
All certificates and their Arabic translation attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in New Delhi were handed over to the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
