Three killed in explosion at cracker unit

Chennai, Jan 24 (UNI) Three people, including two women, were charred to death and eight others sustained burn injuries, in an explosion at a fire cracker manufacturing unit at Duraisamypuram in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu today.

According to reports received at the police headquarters here, the victims were mixing the chemicals for making fire crackers, when the explosion took place leading to fire, at the Pothi Fire Works unit.

All the three identified as Jothilakshmi (21), Lakshmi (35) and Murugan (35) were killed on the spot. The injured were admitted to Sivakasi Government Hospital, reports said.
