Some respite from cold wave, warmer days ahead

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) After leaving Delhiites "in a freeze" for the last three weeks, the cold winds in Delhi today showed some signs of relenting with the Capital experiencing a warm days.

Though Delhiites woke up to another chilly morning, with the minimum ruling at 5.3 degree Celsius, three degrees below normal, the Sunlight later in the day coupled with decreasing intensity of the cold Northerly winds, that have brought chill in the past weeks, brought in a warmth in the air.

So, even though the minimum temperature was three degrees below normal, the maximum temperature rose to 22.7 degree, one degree above normal.

The coming days could bring more respite from chilly weather with the weather office forecasting an abatement of cold wave conditions in the next three to four days as also an increase in night temperatures by 2-4 degree C during the same period.

''Consequently, prevailing cold wave conditions over isolated pockets of Punjab, northeast Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are likely to abate by tomorrow,''they said.

Infact, the weather office has forecast a rise in minimum temperature to 7 Degree C tomorrow.

Meanwhile, visibility levels continued to remain at normal levels even though some fog was witnessed this morning.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with slight mist or fog expected in the morning.
