Security beefed up in Nagaland for Republic Day

Kohima, Jan 24: Nagaland has beefed up security measures throughout the state to ensure a peaceful Republic Day.

Official sources today said the security forces and state Police were keeping strict vigil in all the areas bordering Nagaland, following the intelligent reports that about 15 armed ULFA cadres have sneaked into the state from the Mariani area in Asom.

Reports further said the cadre were trying to create tension in volatile border areas like Golaghat, Jorhat and Sivsagar districts of Asom from here.

However, the security forces have not ruled out possibility of the the cadres staging an attack in the state on Republic Day.

Security at all the important locations including the commercial hub Dimapur have been tightened.

Official sources further said that regular patrolling, frisking of doubtful passengers and deployment of dog Squad were being done to check any untoward incident on January 26.
