School student drowned in Koel river

Rourkela,Jan 24 (UNI) In a tragic incident a school student drowned while taking bath in Koel river near Pradhanpalli yesterday.

Police today said one Tarun Mohanty(13),son of Ramachandra Mohanty of sector 14, drowned in river Koel while taking bath.

Tarun, a student of Arabinda school of sector-5, had gone to the river along with other students after a feast inside the school premises.

Unable to save Tarun from drowning, his friends sought the help of the local villagers who rushed to the scene but failed to rescue him. His body was later retrieved from the river and sent to the Ispat General Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
