Russian foreign minister cancels Afghan trip
Moscow, Jan 24: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrovcancelled a trip to Afghanistan today after poor weather forced theclosure of Kabul airport, Russian news agencies reported.
''The planned one-day working visit on January 24 by Sergei Lavrovto Afghanistan has been cancelled because the airport at the Afghancapital is not accepting planes due to poor weather,'' Interfax and RIANovosti quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying.
Lavrov's plane took off from Moscow airport but continued straighton to New Delhi after Kabul airport was closed. Lavrov is due to jointhe Russian delegation in India for President Vladimir Putin's statevisit.
