RTI still many miles to go in Bihar: Commissioner
Patna, Jan 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Information Commissioner Justice Shashank Kumar Singh today expressed concern about the ignorance of the people regarding Right to Informtion Act (RTI) and its existance in the state.
Justice Singh said the people could not avail the advantage of the RTI because they were not aware of it.
He said now the secretaries of various departments were directed to ensure appointment of information officers in their respective departments at district level and inform about it to the common man through advertisements.
Talking about functioning of the state information commission, he said after the constitution of the commission it could not transact business smoothly due to lack of infrastructural facilities. He said the state information commission had received 240 cases so far, of them only 72 cases had been disposed off.
