Precious metals move upwards

Mumbai, Jan 24 (UNI) Precious metals were on the upswing on bullish global advice with silver up by Rs 245 per kg and gold up by Rs 90 per ten gm because of less stock supply on the Bombay Bullion Exchange today.

Silver fineness opened high at Rs 19,795 per kg on better buying support. Later, it improved and closed at Rs 19,850 with a gain of Rs 245 from yesterday's close.

In London, the white metal was also quoted higher at 13.21.96/13.23 per troy ounce against US 12.94/13.10 dollars per troy ounce in New York.

Similarly, standard gold (99.5) and pure gold (99.9) also opened upwards at Rs 9,245 and Rs 9,295 per ten gm respectively on good demand.

The yellow metal closed at the same rate of Rs 9,245 and Rs 9,295 per ten gm respectively with a gain of Rs 90 each from their previous close.

In London, the yellow metal rose to USD 642.80/645.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 640.50/642.50 per troy ounce in New York on Tuesday.

Following are the spot Silver and Gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 19,850 (19,605), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,245 (9,155), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,295 (9,205).
