Mohanthy cornered on all sides in parole jumping case

Jaipur, Jan 24(UNI) Rajasthan police served notice on a senior Orissa cadre IPS officer Bidya Bhushan Mohanty (Orissa DGP, Home Guard) in connection the the 'forfeiture of his surety' for the parole of his son Bitihotra Mohanty alias Bitti who was convicted in a rape case to report at Lal Koti police station on January 27.

Jaipur SP (East) VK Singh said, ''the Lal Kothi police here had registered two FIRs on Janaury 10 against the father for forfeiture of surety and against the son for jumping the parole and BB Mohanty was asked to report on Janaury 27''.

Bitti, convicted of raping a 26 year old German woman in March 2006 was serving a seven year sentence in a jaipur jail. He was let off on a 15 day parole on November 20 on a surety of Rs 50,000 by his father BB Mohanty. But Mohanty junior failed to report to Jail on the expiry of his parole period landing his father in trouble.

An ADM court in Jaipur had also served a notice for 'dishonouring' of the surety and his arrest but the senior Mohanty got an interim bail from the Orissa High Court till February 5.

Earlier the Orisa home department had also served notice the senior Mohanty for having signed the surety bond seeking the parole of his absconding son.
