Security measures reviewed for Republic Day
Aizawl, Jan 24: Apprehending militant attacks, the Mizoram home department has reviewed the security measures at all major locations for the Republic Day celebrations.
Police sources here today said about 200 personnel from State Arm Force and Intelligence Wing have already been deployed across the state.
Besides, CRPF and BSF have been asked to remain alert while Superintendent of Police of all eight districts were instructed to maintain a close vigil to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations, official sources said.
''Though Mizoram is a peaceful state, we have 722 km of porous border with Myanmar and Bangladesh and recently the cross border crime has increased substantially,'' a senior home department official said.
