Manipur gets ready for Republic day

Imphal, Jan 24 (UNI) The Manipur government has completed all the prepartions for the Republic Day celebrations.

Police officials said security measures have been tightened to check and prevent any untoward incidents.

The transport department had also announced that no vehicles would be allowed within the Greater Imphal area on the day.

Four militant organisations of the North Eastern region had called for a boycott of the celebrations along with a general strike on the day in the entire region.

Meanwhile, rehearsals were going on in fullswing for the celebrations at Kangla, officials said.
