Lyricst Bharanikavu Sivakumar passes away

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 24 (UNI) Noted lyricist Bharanikavu Sivakumar died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital here today.

Sivakumar, who showed interest in writing poems while studying in the eighth standard, had penned lyrics for more than 520 Malayalam films.

Though he started his career from the theatre, he entered the filmdom through 'Swayamvaram' as an Assistant Director.

Songs in 'Chenda' made him popular and his lyrics in Malayalam movies 'Love Letter, My Dear Kuttichathan and Aranyakandam' were big hits.

He had also worked for Malayalam and Hindu dailies.
