J&K VO produces challan against ex-official

Srinagar, Jan 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today produced challan against Mohammad Hafiz Rafiquee, then Accounts Assistant in Finance Department in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by over Rs 9.65 lakh.

A VO spokesman said an FIR was registered on August 22, 2001, against Mohammad Hafiz Rafiquee, then Accounts Assistant in Finance Department, for possessing assets worth Rs 20 lakhs, quite disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The investigation revealed that Mohammad Hafiz acquired four plots of land in Ompora Budgam worth over Rs two lakh and had also constructed houses and other structures on all these plots which were assessed to have costed Rs 16.77 lakh at the time of construction.

His movable assets were estimated to cost Rs 2.40 lakh.

The value of assets and other expenses was assessed to have costed over Rs 22.75 lakh while his income from all known sources was calculated at Rs 13.10 lakh.

Thus, he said, it was established that the accused has acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by an amount over Rs 9.65 lakh.

His two plots in Housing Colony Ompora Budgam, including residential structures constructed thereupon, have been attached in terms of Section 8(B) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act 2006.
