IAS officer gets anticipatory bail

Patna, Jan 24 (UNI) District and sessions judge of Patna Mandhata Singh today granted anticipatory bail to a senior IAS officer and former secratery in Water Resources department of Bihar Hemchandra Sirohi in a case relating to irregularities committed in Durgawati water reservoir project of Rohtas district.

The judge, Mr Singh, directed Sirohi to surrender before the lower court within a month in the case and the lower court was directed to release him on bail after furnishing-bail bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties of the like amount.

A case was filed before the chief judicial magistrate of Patna by the forest department under the charges of violation of Forest Act 1927, the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and Indian Penel Code(IPC).
