HC asks to defer transfer of doctors

Allahabad, Jan 24 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to defer all the transfers of doctors until the department develops the capacity to fight with the vector-borne Japanese Encephalits (JE).

The single bench comprising Justice Sunil Ambwani passed the order on a writ filed by Rakesh Kumar Srivastava.

The petitioner had stated that in spite of several requests, some JE specialists were transferred by the state government.

The HC asked the UP government to put off the transfer of doctors till the department gets the capacity to fight the deadly JE.

The Court also asked the Central government counsel to request the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune to expedite the processing of the samples to identify the suspected virus, which has killed around 60 children within two days in Kushinagar and Padrauna.

The HC has ordered the state government to continue with its effort to arrange vaccine for preventing the future outbreak of the JE and other viral diseases in eastern UP.

The Court fixed January 31, 2007 as next hearing of the case.
