Former IB head to take oath as Chhattisgarh Govr

Raipur, Jan 24 (UNI) Former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director E S L Narasimhan will take oath of office as Chhattisgarh Governor tomorrow.

The High Court's Acting Chief Justice L C Badhu will administer the oath at a function at the Raj Bhavan at 1000 hours, an official spokesman said.

Mr Narasimhan, who retired as the Director, IB, on December 31, 2006, succeeds Lieutenant-General (Retd) Krishna Mohan Seth whose tenure as Governor ended in June 2005 but he continued in the gubernatorial position till a fresh appointment was made.

The new governor's background as an Indian Police Service officer from naxalism-affected Andhra Pradesh, a neighbouring state, is expected to stand him in good stead in Chhattisgarh where half of the 16 districts are battling the rebels.
