Fake currency racket busted;Three arrested in Orissa

Rourkela, Jan 24 (UNI) The Uditnagar police today unearthed a fake currency racket operating in Orissa with the arrest of three persons near a hotel in the steel city.

Police seized fake currency notes of Rs 1000 denomination worth over Rs 93,000 and three mobile phones from their possession. The car used by the gang was also seized.

Police said four people came from Jharkhand to attend a marriage party reception at a local hotel here.

They later went to different shops in the steel city and purchased some materials. At one shop they purchased a horlicks bottle and encashed Rs 1000 note.

The shop keeper suspecting the currency to be a forged one noted the vehicle in which they came to his shop and intimated to police.

The Uditnagar police traced the vehicle in front of a hotel and nabbed three people when they were entering to the hotel.

However, one managed to escape from the spot. The three arrested were identified as R K Dange, Surendra Prasad and Md Sakil from Ramagada in Hazaribag in Jharkhand. On being interrogated, they confessed to the crime of running a fake currency racket.
