Imphal, Jan 24 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner(CEO) R R Rashmi has stated that election officials will collect information from security personnel stationed on election duty on the day of voting and repolls would be ordered on the basis of their reports.

Mr Rashmi said the new Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been programmed to prevent rigging. The machines will record the timing of voting and can not be used repeatedly by an individual within a short span of time. It will take some time to reactivate it once a vote was cast, he said.

No armed personnel would be allowed to enter the polling stations and their periphery within a radius of 100 metres, he said.

He further said about 1800 voters of Chandel district, who had shifted from about 30 villages due to ethnic tension, would be allowed to vote at their original villages.

Special arrangements would also be made for villagers around Khengjoi village of Chandel district.
