Delhi HC notice to Suresh Nanda

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to arms dealer Suresh Nanda on a petition filed by the CBI challenging a special court order permitting him to go abroad.

Justice Ravinder Bhatt yesterday issued the notice to Nanda, son of former Naval Chief S M Nanda.

According to the CBI, a case was registered in October last year against Nanda on the charge that he had received more than Rs 100 crores as kickbacks in the procurement of the Barak Anti-Missile defence system from an Israel-based company.

Appearing for the CBI, Additional Solicitor General P P Malhotra expressed the apprehension that Nanda could tamper with evidence and also manipulate his foreign bank accounts.

He also claimed that the investigating agency had not yet completed Nanda's interrogation.

The CBI, in a petition, has challenged a special court's January 15 order permitting Nanda to go abroad.

Mr Malhotra told the court that the CBI was awaiting some documents from Israel related to the case and Nanda's presence was required to inquire to ascertain certain facts.
