Chandigarh, Jan 24 (UNI) Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala today lashed out at Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal in a rally in her assembly constituency, saying she had not done anything for the development of the area.

Campaigning for her rival and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra at Moonak in Lehra Gagga constituency, Mr Chautala said a large number of farmers were forced to commit suicide in the area, respresented by Ms Bhattal.

He said Ms Bhattal, who had also been Chief Minister of Punjab in the past, had not made any efforts for the betterment of the people of her constituency.

He said the Deputy Chief Minister, who had been making rounds of courts in connection with cases against her, hardly spent any time and attention for the development of the area.

He urged the people to elect Mr Chandumajra who, as an MP, had raised the voice of Punjab very effectively in the Lok Sabha.

Mr Chautala said the Punjab polls were not only important for the state but these would have an impact on the entire country.

A victory for the SAD in the state would give a new direction to the national politics, he added.

Among others who addressed the rally were SAD general secretary Sukhbir Singh Badal and Haryana INLD chief Ashok Arora.
