CEC likely to clear 50 candidates for Uttarakhand
New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) The Central Election Committee(CEC), of the congress headed by party president Sonia Gandhi, met here tonight to finalise the names of candidates for the 70 Assembly seats of Uttarakhand.
The CEC was expected to clear the names of at least 50 out of the 70 candidates in its first list in its meeting which was likely to last till late tonight.
The meeting being held at 10,Janpath,official residence of Ms Gandhi, is being attended by AICC Incharge of Uttarakhand Moti Lal Vora, Chief Minister N D Tiwari and PCC President Harish Rawat,among others.
The Congress is going it alone in the Assembly elections in Uttarakhand which are due to be held next month.
