Bomb lobbed at minister's place

Imphal, Jan 24 (UNI) A few unidentified miscreants lobbed a bomb at the Irawat Memorial Hall here during a meeting of the State Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat Singh yesterday.

Mr Singh is the CPI candidate for the forthcoming Lamlai Assembly elections and is suspected to be the target of the miscreants.

However, no one was injured in the blast and investigation is on to nab the culprits, police officials said.

Earlier a bomb was found near the gate of the minister's official residence here.

Police further said major operations were launched in parts of the state to flush out militants in view of the elections on February 8.
