Bomb hoax at Vijayawada railway station

Vijayawada, Jan 24 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the Vijayawada railway station this afternoon when an anonymous caller said a bomb had been planted on a platform.

Railway sources told UNI here a staff member in the enquiry counter received the call.

A bomb disposal squad along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police conducted a thorough search with sniffer dogs in various rooms on the platform after asking passengers to vacate.

No bomb was found.

Trains coming from Visakahapatnam, Chennai and Hyderabad were stopped at the outer signal during the search operation which lasted for about two hours, the sources added.
