Babbar demands CBI probe into 'madarsa' rape case
Allahabad, Jan 24 (UNI) Jan Morcha (JN) National Convenor and cine star Raj Babbar today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged gang rape of two girl students of a 'madarsa' here.
Talking to mediapersons here, Babbar said, ''I want an impartial investigation in the case, which is impossible under the rule of the Samajwadi Party (SP)-led Uttar Pradesh government. Only the CBI can do a fair job.'' Babbar added that Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav had ''slapped'' Rs two lakh assistance on the victims' faces. ''They want social security and above all justice not money.'' He alleged a deep rooted conspiracy behind this shameful incident. ''Why was the crime committed when the Ardh Kumbh Mela was at its peak,'' he asked.
Lakhs of people were residing in the mela area and the incident might have led to communal tension, he maintained.
He alleged the police was ''hand-in-glove'' with the state government and making no efforts to nab the culprits.
On January 17, posing as policemen, armed miscreants stormed the 'mardarsa' hostel in Kareli area and allegedly raped two girl students.
