Women must be given equal opportunities : Shekhawat
Jaipur, Jan 23 (UNI) Vice president Bhairon Singh Shekawat today emphasised the need for ensuring equal opportunities to women stating that they were second to none in every walk of life.
The vice president speaking at the 71st annual day function of the Vanasthali Vidyapeeth here said, women have proved their mettle in all walks of life and ''the need of the hour is to ensure equal opportuinites to them along with edcuation''.
Referring to the women reservation bill pending in Parliament he said ''reservation for women in the legislature will go a long way in empowering women but considering the advancement made by them in all fields it is beyond doubt that they are capable of getting their share even without reservation''.
He said the challenge before the nation was to bring to the ambit of education those 26 percent gilrs who were still deprived of education. Private educational institutions like Vanasthali can play a crucial role in achieveing the target of cent percent edcuation to them, he added.
The vice president also released the book ''Geetha Ki Neethi Shastra'' authored by President of Vansathlai Diwakar Shastri.
