Surtis celebrate 'Vasant Panchami' with gusto

Surat, Jan 23 (UNI) Surtis welcomed the spring by celebrating ''Vasant Panchami'' even as the city recorded its lowest temperature of the season at 13.9 degrees celsius today.

The mercury had shown a rise last week, but it has dipped over the past three days.

''Vasant Panchami'' celebrations have started in the city and a large number of marriages are being held as ''Vasant Panchami'' is supposed to be an auspicious occasion for marriages. Acccording to rough estimates, around 500 marriages were held in the city today.
