Sugar price falls further on poor demand

Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) Sugar price fell further on poor demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said today.

Sugar in the small grade edged up by Rs eight per quintal on better buying support while medium grade remained steady on moderate demand.

Sugar ex-mill in the small and medium grades drifted lower by Rs five and Rs ten per quitnal respectively on sustained heavy selling pressure.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,508/1,543, Medium grade: Rs 1,540/1,645, Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,490/1,515, Medium grade: Rs 1,505/1,585.
