Special committee to be formed for strengthening Panchayats

Jehanabad, Jan 23 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced constitution of a committee of specialists for empowerment of panchayats.

After laying foundation for different developmental projects in Ghosi of the district, Chief Minister Natish Kumar said his government had accorded several power to the Panchayats.

He said the Panchayats needed to be more empowered and his government had constituted a committee of specialists for the purpose.

The committee had been asked to give suggestions after conducting intensive survey.

Apart from 50 per cent reservation to the women in Panchayat, the body had been given the right for selecting the schemes and appointment of teachers.
