Silver and gold rise on fresh demand

Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) Silver surged by Rs 180 per kg and gold rose moderately by Rs 30 per ten gm on fresh demand on the Bombay Bullion Exchange today.

Silver fineness opened high at Rs 19,500 per kg on good demand.

Later, it drifted higher and closed at Rs 19,605 with a huge gain of Rs 180 from yesterday's close.

In London, the white metal was also quoted higher at 12.96/13.05 per troy ounce against US 12.82/12.84 dollars per troy ounce in New York.

Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and Pure gold (99.9) also opened upwards at Rs 9,130 and Rs 9,180 per ten gm on better buying support. the yellow metal closed higher at Rs 9,155 and Rs 9,205 per tne gm with a gain of Rs 30 each from its previous close.

In London, the yellow metal rose at USD 635.80/638.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 633.50/636.50 per troy ounce in New York on Monday.

Following are the spot Silver and Gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 19,605 (19,425), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,155 (9,125), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,205 (9,175).
